Ten searches took place in Galati, Vâlcea and Vrancea counties, in a case of fraud and computer fraud, after nine people claimed to be nuns and offered religious services on the Internet, news.ro announced.

“From October 2023 until now, nine people, aged between 18 and 75, from the counties of Vrancea, Galati and Vâlcea, would have created several internet pages through which, under the pretext of being mothers, they would have offered ritual services, misleading several people from the country and abroad, thus obtaining important sums of money”, stated the policemen. The estimated damage in the case exceeds 250,000 lei.

Following the searches, the investigators seized several bank cards, bank transfer documents, mobile phones, PC units, memory storage units, as well as various amounts of money (5,880 euros, 23,700 lei, 90 pounds, 300 dollars and 1,000 Moldovan lei).

Nine people were taken for questioning. Three of them, aged between 18 and 24, from Vrancea and Galati counties, were detained for 24 hours, for fraud and computer forgery.
