Some people make money from cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. And they must pay taxes on the amounts earned from the respective transactions after submitting the Single Declaration 2024. Attention, below we refer to the income made in 2023 that must be declared by May 27, 2024.

For cryptocurrencies check in the Single Declaration 2024: Sections I.1.1 for income tax and I.3.2, if applicable by CASS (see below).

So, if you sold Bitcoin last year and made a profit, you will have to pay the 10% income tax, that is, check point 10: other sources defined according to art. 144 of the Fiscal Code.

The profit is not taxable if it is less than 200 lei (from a single transaction), but not more than 600 lei in the year 2023 (total profits from a financial year), says tax consultant Cornel Grama, who told us helped us make a VIDEO guide, namely a fill-in pattern that you can find in the clip below at 1:06:24.

Of course, you also have to consider paying CASS at 6, 12 or 24 minimum wages.

The minimum salary taken into account in 2024 for the income related to 2023 is 3,000 lei (even if during the year the minimum salary was increased to 3,300 lei, something even confirmed by ANAF). So, as you will also see in the Single Declaration, for the payment of health contributions there will be the ceilings below.

For CASS payment:

• 18,000 lei

• 36,000 lei

• 72,000 lei

In conclusion:

If you have income between 18,000 – 36,000 lei/year, you must pay CASS of 1,800 lei

If you have income between 36,000 – 72,000 lei/year, then CASS is 3,600 lei

If you have income higher than 72,000 lei/year, then CASS is 7,200 lei

Next year the maximum ceiling for CASS will be 60 salaries, but they will discuss this and how to fill it next year.
