A real alarm signal is raised by the representatives of the ISU Gorj who warn that in the first three months of this year they intervened to extinguish 350 fires, most of them dry vegetation, extended towards the forest floor. Moreover, more than 20 fires of this time took place in Gorj only in the last 24 hours.
The fires took place in the localities of Alimpeşti, Muşeteşti, Danciuleşti, Padeş, Dragoteşti, Bengeşti-Ciocadia, Văgiuleşti, Logreşti, Novaci, Ţântăreni, Bâlteni and Fărcăşeşti. “Tens of hectares of vegetation were consumed by flames, the damage to the environment being irreparable. Fortunately, no victims were registered, and if the flames did not reach the inhabited areas and no real tragedies occurred, it is only the merit of our intervention crews through the huge efforts they made, the merit of the local public authorities who they also actively involved the citizens who were aware of the risk and who joined our intervention crews”, said Florin Chisim, according to Agerpres.
Until now, in 2024, ISU Gorj was requested to intervene to extinguish more than 350 vegetation fires that broke out on the territory of the county, in the vast majority the probable cause being the same: the use of open fire to burn plant residues or to sanitize agricultural land.
