The liberal senator Ion Iordache implies that if he had a low score after the elections, he could give up the leadership of PNL Gorj.
The statement was made during a show on a local radio station.
He stated that such a discussion was also held within the National Permanent Bureau of the PNL, and one of those who came up with such a proposal was Ion Iordache himself. However, the party leadership has decided not to make this a rule, and party chiefs in the country who score poorly will be automatically removed from office.
“The party leadership didn’t impose it on us because this issue failed. I don’t have a problem with this and, as I said then, because I was the one who proposed that measure, from my point of view, a candidate or a party leader who in the elections gets more fewer votes than the party, he has no business leading the party. (…)If I get fewer votes than the party, I have nothing to look for… In the county, first of all, and the organizations should not be in the last place. I am not interested in clinging to political office. If I get a good result I will be able to do things, if not, I have no reason to stay at the party”, said Iordache, on Radio Infinit.
