According to the mayor Emil Boc, starting from the summer of 2024, all school yards in Cluj-Napoca will remain open so that they can be used by children, so that they can do sports during the summer vacation.
Although there has already been a Local Council Decision in this regard for several years, according to which schools must leave the gates of the courtyards open even after school hours in order to make them available to the city’s residents as spaces for movement, this is not it happens at all educational institutions. Thus, Emil Boc publicly consoled his position regarding this situation.
“I don’t think any principal will close the school yard anymore. If he puts the lock, he will put it at the price of leaving office. The director of ISJ Cluj, Mrs. Marinela Marc, reconfirmed this to me – if there will be such directors who will defy this public policy, common sense and the health of the city, we will decide to remove them from office. We hope not to be the case.
There were few cases last summer as well, but I think that in the end everyone understood that this space belongs to the students and must be used even during the holidays, in order to encourage young people not to be sedentary”, said the mayor , at Live Day.
