In the context in which we are in the midst of a period of fishing prohibition, the commissioners of the Environmental Guard, with the support of the IGPR, carried out several actions against fish poaching, confiscating 4 vehicles, 250 kg of fish and 14 km of illegal fishing nets , according to the National Environmental Guard.

40 commissioners from the National Environmental Guard, supported by 280 police officers from the IGPR – Road and Public Order Directorate from Constanța and Tulcea counties, started, in the period from 22.04.2024 – 27.04.2024, an extensive inspection and control, both on water and on land, to prevent and combat fish poaching activities on the Danube River, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and the Black Sea.

The results obtained by the National Environmental Guard in this action show that poaching is a worrying phenomenon.

The mixed teams assigned to actions on land checked, in just 7 days, 1256 motor vehicles and vans, finding non-conformities regarding the transport of fish.

The controls were carried out both day and night, and led to the identification of a number of 524 prohibited fishing tools during this period, 150 pieces of fishing gear, 350 pieces of monofilament net/seine totaling 14,000 m, 24 pieces of fishing nets and nets. All were seized for confiscation.

The National Environmental Guard mentioned that any act of a criminal nature will be judged in the criminal sphere by the commissioners of the National Environmental Guard and that the actions are ongoing and will continue.
