The long-awaited documentary NASTY, about the life and career of tennis player Ilie Năstase, will have a series of special screenings in Cluj-Napoca on April 17, in the presence of the production team. The film can be watched the same evening at Cinema Victoria, Cinema Florin Piersic and Cinema City Iulius Mall. Screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions. Tickets went on sale online.
Combining extraordinary archival footage and interviews with some of the world’s most famous athletes, such as Rafael Nadal, Björn Borg, Jimmy Connors, Nadia Comăneci or Boris Becker, NASTY tells the story of a unique character. And Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike, talks, in an exclusive interview, about the relationship with Năstase, who was the first professional athlete to sign a representation contract with the famous brand in 1972.

The documentary is directed by Tudor Giurgiu, creator of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), Cristian Pascariu & Tudor D Popescu and distributed by Transilvania Film. producers NASTY are Cosmin Hodor (HDR Evolution) and Tudor Giurgiu (Libra Films), and the co-producer is Hanka Kastelicová (Vice President & Executive Producers Documentaries HBO EMEA – HBO Max).
In April, NASTY it will be available in cinemas across the country. The production team will go on a promotional tour around the country
The first images from NASTY were released on @nasty.themovie social media (Facebook, Instagram & TikTok). The poster of the film integrates a portrait of the tennis player created by the artist Roger Huyssen to illustrate an interview with Năstase that appeared in June 1977 US Playboy magazine.
