Old wood is becoming more and more sought after by those who want to restore old houses or invest in traditional restaurants or guesthouses. At least that’s what the gorgens who own old wood and put it up for sale claim.
A Gorjeanca sells the wood from which a barn and a shed are made for 5,000 euros. The two annexes are not being demolished so that those who want to buy the old wood can better visualize it.
Another local from Gorj sells over 100-year-old beech wood, resulting from the demolition of an old house. The price is easily negotiable and starts from 500 lei per cubic meter.
“We have sold beams made of these old beech trees before. They have preserved over time very well, and connoisseurs and those who use this wood know exactly what they are looking for. They treat it and use it. I also sold a shed, someone came just near Bucharest according to him. He took it apart with the workers piece by piece and did not comment on the price. He bought it for a traditional-style inn with a restaurant.”
A local from Danesti sells his shed for 5,000 lei and guarantees that the wood is over 100 years old.
