MP elected from AUR, accused of assaulting his wife/ George Simion’s reaction

The deputy elected from the AUR, Dumitru Focșa, is accused again of beating his wife, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. The woman reported to the police that her husband was physically assaulting her. It is not Focsa’s first violation of this type. In January 2023, he was expelled from the AUR for assaulting his wife. George Simion’s reaction was not long in coming: “zero tolerance for wife beaters.”

The wife of Dumitru Focșa, aged 51, notified the Police on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, regarding the fact that she is assaulted by her husband, aged 58.

Law enforcement went to the scene and drew up a risk assessment form, “as a result of which an imminent risk emerged, a provisional protection order being issued”, the official release states.

A criminal investigation file was drawn up regarding the commission of the crime of domestic violence.

Dumitru Focșa is not on his first offense

Deputy Dumitru Focșa is not in the first offense of this type. In January 2023, he was expelled from the AUR party after assaulting his wife. In November 2023, he was readmitted to the AUR parliamentary group, after his wife withdrew her criminal complaint and gave up filing for divorce.

Also last year, Dumitru Focșa shared his perspective on acts of domestic violence on social media; he then blamed his wife for his actions, citing that she was jealous and did not properly care for one of their children.

Simion: “Zero tolerance for those who beat their wives”

George Simion reacted on social networks to the news that Dumitru Focșa is again accused of assaulting his wife.

“I hope that now everyone understands that the exclusion of deputy Focșa was necessary. Zero tolerance for wife beaters. All those excluded from our ranks have become unknown illustrious. And I still have the must!”, declared Simion.

The statement of the head of the formation seems to contradict the facts. The exclusion of Dumitru Focșa took place in January 2023, but in November 2023 he became a member of the Republican Party and resumed collaboration with the AUR, active in the parliamentary group of the formation.
