The Ministry of Investments and European Projects has announced the date when the social cards for food will be loaded with the amount of 250 lei, in April.
Approximately 2.5 million people benefit from this aid, granted once every 2 months, according to the lists of eligible beneficiaries centralized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity.
The maximum level of income that is taken into account when granting social vouchers has increased since this year.
“From this year, the Government of Romania decided to increase to 2,000 lei the maximum level of income for which social vouchers are granted. Cards can be used for food or hot meals.
In 2024, these cards will be topped up six times: in February, April, June, August, October and December,” said Simona Bucura-Oprescu, Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity, at the beginning of this year.
The representatives of the Ministry of Investments and European Projects announced, however, when the Romanians will receive the money in April.
“The support of 250 lei per 2 months will be transferred to the food cards between April 15-25, 2024”, according to a post on MIPE’s official Facebook page.

The beneficiaries of this support granted by the Government of Romania are:
- persons – children and adults – classified as severely, severely or moderately disabled, whose own monthly income is less than or equal to 2,000 lei;
- families with at least 2 dependent children whose monthly income per family member is less than or equal to 675 lei;
- single-parent families whose monthly income per family member is less than or equal to 675 lei;
- families and single persons who have established the right to the inclusion aid, under the conditions of Law no. 196/2016 regarding the minimum inclusion income, with subsequent amendments and additions;
- pensioners of the public pension system, pensioners in the records of sectoral pension houses and beneficiaries of rights granted on the basis of special laws, paid by territorial pension houses/sectoral pension houses, whose monthly income is less than or equal to 2,000 lions;
- homeless people, as they are regulated according to the legal provisions in force.
