Romania developed with 90 billion euros from the EU. What’s next? The link between the vote and the European money of the future

--

Economedia and G4Media are organizing a debate on Friday, April 5, about the future of European funding, the importance of capitalizing on it in the coming years and how the vote in the European Parliament elections will affect what happens in the country and in Brussels with EU funds.

MEPs Dragoș Pîslaru, Corina Crețu and Rareș Bogdan will participate in the event, which starts at 10:00 a.m., at the Office of the European Parliament in Romania (live online intervention) and experts in the fields to be discussed: Tana Foarfa, lecturer Răzvan Hoinar and Prof. Dr. Dragos Dinca. The moderators of the discussions are Cristi Pantazi, editor-in-chief of G4Media.ro and Elena Deacu, editor-in-chief of Economedia.ro.

In an economic landscape marked by high inflation rates and rising living costs, the crucial question is: how can we counterbalance these trends and how can we ensure sustainable economic development for Europe’s future? Are the funds provided by the European Union budget the solution to the economic challenges at the national level?

The event will focus on attracting European funds in the 17 years since Romania’s accession to the EU. In total, about 92 billion euros from cohesion funds, funds for agriculture and other European programs arrived in Romania’s economy. We will discuss the amounts raised and the most important funding results.

The main topics to be debated are:

  • How can we ensure sustainable economic development for the future of Europe?
  • Are the funds provided by the European Union budget the solution to the economic challenges at the national level?
  • The essential role of the political and legislative activity of the European Parliament, which directly influences the areas of funding.
  • How Romania should and could capitalize on the available amounts in the next years and why this moment is crucial to benefit from EU programs.
  • The importance of the European Parliament elections for the future of funds coming from the Union budget. What can change? In which directions will the change go?
  • The importance of young people voting for the European Parliament for the development of the country in the coming decades.

The event will be broadcast LIVE on the website and Facebook pages of the organizers – G4Media.ro and Economedia.ro, respectively in the section https://www.g4media.ro/eurovot and on https://economedia.ro/.

The event is part of the project co-financed by the European Union (the European Parliament through DG Communication): “EuroVOT: learning from the crises, shaping the future”. The main objective of the project is to present the importance of the 2024 European Parliament elections and encourage voting, by countering the growing anti-European trends and the fact that the overlap of crises in Romania has led to the rapid growth of conspiratorial discourse and anti-European positions, respectively the EU response and the solutions identified at the European level to solve the current challenges: the increase in inflation and the cost of living, energy security, GreenDeal and the transition to green energy, security threats in the context of the conflict on the Eastern border of the EU.
