Four drug traffickers from Dolj, definitively convicted

The Craiova Court of Appeal gave a final sentence in a case in which four men from the Dolja commune of Negoi were accused of high-risk drug trafficking. The defendants received sentences ranging from two years of suspended imprisonment to four years and eight months of execution. According to the investigators, the defendants sold dangerous drugs to consumers in Dolj for 50 lei per gram.

DIICOT prosecutors announced, in April 2023, the arrest of four men from Negoi commune, accused of drug trafficking. On April 20, three of the suspects were caught red-handed while selling 900 grams of cannabis. The amount demanded for the drugs was 23,000 lei.

“On April 20, 2023, the policemen of the Craiova Organized Crime Brigade, together with a prosecutor from DIICOT – Craiova Territorial Service, documented the criminal activity of some people suspected of committing the crime of high-risk drug trafficking, in the municipality of Băileşti , Dolj county. Thus, three young people, aged between 21 and 22, from Negoi commune, were caught red-handed, while allegedly selling 900 grams of cannabis, for 23,000 lei. Later, following four house searches, other quantities of dangerous drugs (cannabis) were discovered and seized, as well as other means of evidence, including two weapons that are to be examined. At the same time, the police also identified a fourth person, namely a 43-year-old man from the Negoi commune, who would have participated with the three young men in the sale of drugs”, stated the investigators.

The drugs reached the consumers in Dolj

On April 20, after being questioned, the four defendants were detained for 24 hours. Following the investigations, it was established that, starting from January 2023, the four sold cannabis to consumers in Dolj. Drugs were usually sold for 50 lei per gram.
On April 21, the four defendants were remanded in custody by a decision of the Dolj Court. Later, in November, two of the defendants were placed under judicial control. The Doljeni were sent to court in June 2023, under preventive arrest. They were accused of drug trafficking, respectively drug trafficking and failure to comply with the weapons and ammunition regime.

This file was registered on the roll of the Dolj Court, which ruled on February 2. Two of the defendants were sentenced to four years and eight months, respectively four years and six months in prison. The penalties are enforceable. The court also ordered that the two defendants remain in custody. Another defendant in the case received a sentence of two years and two months in prison, also with execution. The last defendant was sentenced to two years in prison with suspension. The judges also ordered the confiscation of the sums of money obtained from the sale of drugs. The decision of the Dolj Court was appealed by three of the convicted men.

Last week, the Craiova Court of Appeal gave a sentence in this case. The court found that two of the defendants withdrew their appeals. The judges rejected as unfounded the appeal made by the third defendant. The decision of the Craiova Court of Appeal is final.
