PHOTO. German. Nine fires of dry vegetation in just three days

--

In just three days, approximately 36 ha of dry vegetation burned in Neamț county, the biggest fire occurring in Bicaz Chei commune, where approximately 20 ha were affected. A press release from ISU Neamț presents an assessment and draws attention to the dangers generated by this phenomenon, which in certain situations can hardly be controlled.

  • in Roman municipality, on Fabricii street where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately 600 square meters;
  • in the commune of Cordun, in the locality of Simionești, where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately 6,000 square meters;
  • in the commune of Vânători Neamț, in the locality of Nemțișor where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately one hectare;
  • in the commune of Bicaz Chei, where they burned dry vegetation, brambles, fells and stumps on an area of approximately 20 ha;
  • in the commune of Dămuc where they burned dry vegetation and woody material on an area of approximately 5 ha.
  • in Tașca commune where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately 5 ha;
  • in Crăcăoani commune, in Poiana Crăcăoani locality where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately 400 square meters;
  • in Poienari commune where dry vegetation burned on an area of approximately one hectare.

ISU Neamț draws attention to the difficulties at the time of intervention”most of the time, fire trucks cannot reach the area of fire outbreaks due to hard-to-reach areas. Also, in many areas there are no sources of water supply, and the surface on which the fire manifests itself is very extensive. In some cases, citizens burn stubble, household waste or dry vegetation, without ensuring supervision, without ensuring fire protection measures, in windy conditions or placing piles to be destroyed by burning near farms, animal shelters, fodder warehouses, housing or the forest fund. This leads to the rapid spread of the fire to households and their annexes, with significant damage and even loss of human life being recorded!

According to the legal provisions, “burning stubble, peatlands, forest litter, reeds, thickets or grassy vegetation is strictly prohibited (article 94, paragraph (1), letter n, of GEO no. 195/2005 on environmental protection) and constitutes contraventions, punishable by a fine of from 7,500 lei (RON) to 15,000 lei (RON), for individuals, and from 50,000 lei (RON) to 100,000 lei (RON), for legal entities.”
