ANM (National Meteorological Administration) announces that dust particles of Saharan origin will be present in the atmosphere during the first two days of April. Dust deposits will also be observed in some areas.

“At the end of March, the predominantly southwest circulation favored the penetration of an air mass loaded with dust particles of Saharan origin over Romania. Between April 1 at 10 a.m. and April 2 at 10 p.m., dust particles will be maintained over the territory of Romania,” the National Meteorological Administration announced on Monday.

ANM pointed out that it is anticipated that dust deposits will be observed starting from the night of Monday to Tuesday, in the western, northern and central regions of the country, where precipitation is forecast.

In the previous week, it was reported that an air mass impregnated with dust particles of Saharan origin entered Romania’s airspace.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, the prevailing winds from the southwest direction will facilitate the bringing of an air mass containing Saharan dust particles over the territory of Romania.

Higher concentrations of these particles are forecast to be recorded in the southwestern, southern and eastern regions of the country, according to information provided by meteorologists on Wednesday, March 27.

According to the weather forecast, during the night from Thursday to Friday, the air mass loaded with dust particles will move beyond the territory of Romania and reach over the Black Sea and Ukraine.

“Rains will be reported especially in the west, south-west, center and north of the territory. Dust deposits can be observed especially in areas and intervals with rain”, according to ANM.

According to the information provided by ANM, one of the warnings referred to the towns of Cisnădie, Avrig, Tălmaciu, Șelimbăr, Racovița, Turnu Roșu, Sadu and Boita, located in Sibiu county.
