The County Commissariat for Consumer Protection (CJPC) Gorj, carried out, between March 1 and March 29, 2024, a varied activity to check how economic operators comply with the legislation in force regarding consumer protection, in accordance with the control themes established at the level of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, as well as with its own, but also as a result of the investigation of petitions received from consumers.

Deviations were identified at various types of commercial activities, from flower stalls, barbers, shops to peco stations or supermarkets.

“Thus, during this period, 93 control actions were carried out, and for the detected irregularities, the commissioners of the Gorj CJPC applied the following sanctions:
– 45 contravention fines, totaling 261,000 lei;
– 43 warnings;
– the temporary stop from marketing until the non-conformities are remedied for products worth more than 5120 lei;
– the definitive stop on the sale of non-compliant food and non-food products, worth more than 8,019 lei.

The main irregularities found during the controls were:
– deceptive commercial practices, namely the finding of differences between the prices displayed on the shelf and the cash register;
– non-compliance with hygiene rules when providing services in beauty salons;
– the sale of non-compliant gas-type LPG cylinders, where defects caused by corrosion or of a physical nature, i.e. permanent deformations, were found;
– non-compliance with the storage and preservation conditions for various food products;
– misleading advertising;
– deficiencies regarding consumer information;
– vegetables and fruits with organoleptic alterations of spoilage”, it is stated in a press release of CJPC Gorj.
