Important distinction received by the general director of the Timisoara National Theatre, Ada Hausvater

On Thursday evening, in the Great Hall of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” in Timișoara, the awarding event of the National Order “For Merit” in the rank of Knight, a distinction conferred by the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, to the general director of the National Theatre, Ada Hausvater , and handed over by the Minister of Culture, Raluca Turcan.

Decree no. 55 of January 15, 2024, issued by the President of Romania on the occasion of the National Culture Day, confirms the granting of this prestigious title to Ada Hausvater, “as a sign of high appreciation for the important merits in bringing Romanian dramaturgy and the Mihai Eminescu National Theater to the forefront of European culture, for the development through the dramatic art of the civic and democratic spirit in Timișoara”, also emphasizing his dual capacity as director and theater manager.

As Ada Hausvater stated, “What is happening at the National Theater in Timișoara from 2005 to the present represents more than a suite of management mandates – during the National Theater in these 18 years it represents the successful phenomenon of leadership in the theater, it is the result of active and creative leadership which builds a creative team, willing to assume a vision and a common direction of evolution, a leadership that emphasizes people, skills and enthusiasm, therefore, a phenomenon. This way of working together for a common goal, in line with a set of principles, became a real source of inspiration and, over time, polarized an important segment of society. I thank the President of Romania for the high distinction he conferred on me and I thank the Minister of Culture for submitting this proposal to recognize a career that began very early, a career put at the service of the theater whose course I have been building for eighteen years and, at the same time, in the service of the formative directions of society: imagination, humanity, openness, enthusiasm, team.

Thanks to my colleagues, who believe in my principles, stand by me and keep pace with me. Thanks to my audience and collaborators. This recognition of the professionalism and value of my work as an artist – as a director, as a general manager and as a citizen, along with the titles received at the European and national level, proves the importance and justice of our options to persevere on this complex path of creative management and social construction through culture”.
