Maintenance and repair work in Alba Carolina Citadel. The local authorities of Alba Iulia are allocating over 4.6 million lei for the maintenance and repair of the elements and urban facilities of the Vauban Alba Carolina Bastion Citadel, over the next four years.

Alba Iulia City Hall launched, on March 28, in SEAP, a tender for maintenance and repair works in the Vauban Alba Carolina Bastion Citadel, over the next four years.

The estimated total value of the contract is 4,606,945.04 lei, without VAT.

According to the documentation, in 2020 the Alba Iulia City Hall concluded a framework agreement for works, with the same object, with a duration of 4 years. The last subsequent contract expired on January 29, 2024.

Over time, numerous damages to the constructive elements were found:

• pavement dislocations in the carriageway, pedestrian sidewalks and cycle paths,
• dislocations from the walls,
• vandalized works of urban art,
• damaged atmosphere reintegration elements, etc.

These damages were generated by external factors, traffic accidents, wear and tear through the exploitation of goods, acts of vandalism, etc.

According to the specification, several types of works will be performed to maintain the exploitation of public assets in the Alba Carolina Citadel area. Is about:

Repairs for wooden elements:

• benches, planters, trash cans, bridges – walkways, access stairs, platforms, bus stops;
• cleaning of surfaces, replacement of damaged surfaces, manufacturing of new parts, painting, metal fabrications for joints.

Union Bridge Repairs:

• replacement of glass, replacement of degraded flooring, painting of metal elements.

Repairs for metal elements:

• parapets, fences, gates, boundary posts, informational posts, bike racks, metal joining elements, gate lifting system, metal grates for rainwater collection, manhole covers for sewerage, plaques, informational panels, railing, handrail, chains;
• surface cleaning, priming, grouting, painting, replacement and welding of damaged parts, parts for joining metal elements.

Maintenance and repair work in Alba Carolina Citadel

Artistic component repairs:

• plinths, benches with planters, the fortress fountain, works of urban art, etc.;
• pre-consolidation, removal of sculptural elements, cleaning of surfaces, extraction of salts, stopping of biological processes, removal of dirt and black crusts, consolidation of cracks, cleavages, definitive consolidation, wholes and additions, joints, final treatments.

Masonry and plinth repairs:

• walls, parapets, vaults-tunnels, gates, arches;
• dismantling/restoration of damaged masonry, cleaning of affected areas, cleaning of joints, additions and rejoining, masonry seals, masonry joints, restoration of vaulted walls, wet cleaning on surfaces covered with microflora, consolidation of microflora-bearing surfaces, cleaning of deposits and black crusts.

Stone paving repairs:

• roadway, parking lots, sidewalks, bicycle track, platforms, terraces;
• dismantling/restoration of paving slabs, curbs and screeding mortar, restoration of damaged pavement, installation of curbs, jointing of pavement

Procurement of materials:

• stone, ornamental limiters, trash can;

Other categories of works:

• revision of ornamental limiters, installation of signposts, speed limiters, inspection and repair of public clock, cast iron cover and frame, street lamp, installation of glass for tourist panels, tourist sign plates.

All current maintenance and repair works will be carried out under the coordination, respectively approved by specialists/experts certified by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
