Harsh exchange of words between the candidates for the Capital City Hall. After Gabriela Firea said live on Digi24 that she expects Cristian Popescu Piedone to withdraw from the race for Bucharest, the mayor from Sector 5 says that he has no intention of doing so and questions the polls that give Gabriela better chances Nature. Moreover, Piedone said that PSD threw Firea in the trash, and now he recycled it and they tell him that it is the best, a statement that upset the head of PSD Bucharest.

“This poll either leads us clearly as the PSD PNL USR table to make Nicușor Dan mayor, or the fear of Piedone and the queen coming into play. They will probably see her in 2nd place and tell me that I have the best chance in front of Nicușor. This thing should have been done by the party that represented her and put her in the trash and then they recycled her and told her she was the best. Today Piedone is not retiring. Firea and anyone can call. No one called me because I answer any phone. I’m not a nobody. I’m not retiring”, declared Piedone.

Asked about Piedone’s statement, Firea says she doesn’t want to respond in the same way. “Mr. Piedone has a wife, daughter, colleagues, he certainly values them. I heard these statements and I don’t want to respond in the same way,” said Firea.

About possible negotiations for Piedone’s withdrawal, Gabriela Firea says she has the phone open.

“Honestly, each person makes their own decisions, if there is still room, yes, I have the phone open, it’s Mr. Mihai Tudose’s word, if there is still a way, only his lordship can say, declare. I deal with the campaign, the meetings with the citizens, with the tenants’ associations, with the business environment, with the parents who are dissatisfied that in Bucharest they still learn in three shifts and the children are very tormented, with the parents of the children who had big, big delays in granting the incentives that were proposed and voted on during my time. (…)”, she also said.

The head of PSD Bucharest previously told Digi24 that “it would be normal” to withdraw from the electoral race of Piedone.

“I would negotiate. Marius Tucă also asked me yesterday if I would call him. It’s not that I’m calling him, I’m not proud. I would call him, but then I feel like he calls Antena and says that Gabi asked me to withdraw and gives me two more moral, political slaps. This gesture should come from you. Let him do what he said at the beginning, that’s what he said, if Gabriela Firea is running, I’m not running. It would be normal. We collaborated well in the last campaign, you went to the field, spoke to the people of Bucharest – ‘vote me in Sector 5 and Gabriela Firea in the Capital’ – and we won 45% and I thank you. I think we could continue to collaborate in this way.

Because he said (…) that he wants something else to happen in Bucharest, that the current mayor is no longer in office, and I think I have stronger arguments to enter the competition with the current mayor. I know the Capital City Hall, I know the problems of the institutions subordinate to the Capital City Hall and the General Council, I left projects that were no longer continued and I realized many projects. Basically, if I were elected, when Mr. Dan’s mandate ends in the fall, I would go straight to work, with activity, I wouldn’t waste any more time,” said Firea.

Firea, in second place in the race for the Capital

If elections were held next Sunday, Nicușor Dan would be voted by 31% of those who responded to this survey, the second place would be occupied by Gabriela Firea with 24%, and Cristian Popescu Piedone would rank in third place, with a 20% voting intention. Sebastian Burduja ranks fourth, with 15%.

Also, PSD ranks first in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest, with 31%. The following parties preferred by the people of Bucharest in this electoral race are: ADU with 25%, PNL with 20% and PUSL with 10%.
