Police officers from the Public Order Service within the Caraș-Severin IPJ, under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Oravița District Court, today carried out 10 house searches in a criminal file in which investigations are being carried out for the commission of “cutting without right to trees from the national forest fund”, “tree theft” and “unauthorized use of special marking devices”.
Search warrants were executed at the headquarters of a forestry bypass in the county, of some prominent economic operators, as well as at the residences of forestry personnel suspected of committing the acts.
Five people were taken for questioning. As a result of the searches, marking devices, stamps and stamp impressions, documentary evidence, mobile phones, memory devices, as well as other means of evidence were seized.
“From research it was established that during this year, personnel from the forestry institution in question would have carried out tree enhancement activities without complying with the legal norms, in favor of some prominent economic operators. It was also found that several trees were illegally marked by imprinting with the marking devices and by applying specific paint, in the case being illegally cut and stolen trees from the national forest fund, in a volume of more than several hundred cubic meters of wood material”.

The estimated damage up to this point is over 180,000 lei.
The activities were attended by police officers from public order structures, criminal investigations, economic crime investigation, weapons, explosives and dangerous substances, forensics and special actions of the inspectorate, gendarmes from the Caraș-Severin County Gendarmerie Inspectorate and representatives from the Timișoara Forestry Guard .
