The city hall of Galați and the regional operator Apa Canal inform that the works have started for the modernization of the “Turnul de Apa” pumping station, thanks to a project that is being carried out with European funds. The main suction and discharge pipes, hydraulic nodes and related fittings will be completely rehabilitated.

Since the investment in this strategic objective in the water supply of the city of Galati is large-scale and involves very complex works, they are carried out in stages. This year, work is planned and started on the supply pipe for the station’s water supply, so that the replacement of the hydraulic installations can be carried out with the station in operation and without interrupting the water supply to consumers in the surrounded areas, as well as on the supply pipe discharge, about 1.02 kilometers, from Crizantemelor str. – M. Kogălniceanu str. – bd. Coșbuc – Brăilei str. (Păpădie), so that the project aiming at the modernization of George Coșbuc boulevard on the second section can be carried out.

The “Water Tower” pumping station supplies potable water to the neighborhoods of Țiglina I, Țiglina II, Mazepa I, Mazepa II, the Center – Domnească, Center – Port, Piața Centrală, Valea Oraşului and the area of ​​Coșbuc – Kogălniceanu – Traian – Carnabel streets – Alecsandri – Coșbuc (up to Al. Măcelaru str.).

The total value of the investment is approximately 15.23 million lei.

The “Water Tower” pumping station was put into operation in 1894 and also benefited from investment works under the ISPA Program in 2012.
