“Like every year, Romanians celebrate May 1st with small cakes and beer. In order to fully enjoy this celebration, it is good to take into account the following recommendations”, writes Paul Anghel on Facebook on Saturday.

He claims that when buying minced meat products, attention must be paid to the appearance of the product and the labeling method.

“Do not buy unlabeled prepackaged products, and for those sold in bulk, it is mandatory to register, at the point of sale, the date of minimum durability/use by date and the allergenic ingredients. Refuse the minced meat products for which there are doubts regarding the quality and the way of information through labeling! Refuse meat products that do not have the minimum durability date/use by date on the label or if it has been modified or exceeded!”, she says.

Also, the ANPC director points out that these products should not be bought from unauthorized places.

“When buying beer, check the condition of the packaging (integrity, tightness), the clarity of the liquid and the date of minimum durability”, says Paul Anghel.

If you spend May 1st in agreement zones, it’s good to pay attention to a few aspects, says the specialist:

-In the case of food products, the way they are displayed and marketed must be monitored, in order to observe some clues that can lead to the identification of health risks, namely: the existence and operation of refrigerated display cases where the food is displayed; the integrity of the packaging, which must ensure protection during transport, storage and marketing; their labeling, with data related to the type of product, its origin, the term of validity, etc.
-Also, before purchasing food, from places specialized in this regard, make sure that the seller is properly equipped, wears a protective gown and cap, and the handling of unpackaged food is done with hands covered by clean or disposable gloves.
– Pay attention to the displayed price and check the agreement between the prices displayed on the shelf and those marked on the receipts.
-Request and keep the receipt to be able to try it in case you justifiably want to complain about the quality/safety of a product.

It shows that following the controls carried out by the ANPC commissioners in the past years, deviations were found, including: the use of raw materials with expired consumption dates (sausages, small meats, soft drinks), the use of raw materials without elements identification (small meat, mustard, ketchup), the sale of products with mold traces (buns), the use of excessively burnt oil for frying, non-compliance with the conditions for keeping and storing products, thawing frozen raw materials at ambient temperature, the use of unsanitized utensils with a blackened appearance, the use of a scale without metrological verification, the presence on the market of products with organoleptic changes (mayonnaise, salad dressings, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, cucumbers) or the use of properly unsanitized grills and utensils for degraded kitchen utensils (grill tongs, knives).
