A woman who is reported to have drowned in a dam on the Olt River is being searched for by Gorje mountain rescuers with an underwater drone.

“The water rescuers from the Gorj County Council’s Rescue Service intervene, at the request of the Vâlcea County Emergency Situations Inspectorate, to search for the body of a woman who drowned in one of the dams on the Olt River.

Rescuers use the most efficient equipment of this kind in the world, there are only two such equipment in the country, both at Salvamont structures.

Rescue teams cannot always be notified in time, especially when we talk about the power of the waters, but even in these already tragic situations we can come to the aid of grieving families for their peace“said Salvamont Gorj.

Five Salvamont aquatic and underwater search centers

The Salvamont Gorj service was the first in the country to be equipped with an underwater drone, after which other structures followed and in the next period there will be other equipment.

“After the two equipment purchased by the Salvamont services from Gorj and Harghita, a new series of digital sonars based on Artificial Intelligence for the detection of people under water, the most performing worldwide, will be included, in the next period, in the equipment of the Salvamont structures from Our country.

Thus, starting this year, there will be five Salvamont aquatic and underwater search centers nationwide.

These centers will not limit their activity to searching for victims only in mountain waters, but will respond to requests received from the entire territory of the country“, stated the representatives of Salvamont.

Three drowned people were found with the help of the underwater drone

During the last year, in the first six months after the purchase, the rescuers, using this high-performance detection equipment, unique in our country at the time, managed to locate the bodies of three drowned people, after they had been searched without success with divers.

The detector and other state-of-the-art water rescue equipment, underwater drones, aerial drones capable of transporting and launching medical and rescue equipment, rope launchers were presented, for the national premiere, last year during the Aquares 2023 exercise on Lake Sâmbotin from Gorj county.
