Timișoara will soon host a unique museum in Romania, dedicated to the Bible. This museum will be opened by Ionel Tuțac, the most important collector of bibles from us in the country.

The Museum of the Bible is in the final phase of the project and it could open right from Easter, in Piata Sfântul Gheorghe, in place of an old barber shop in the city, in a building made available by the City Hall of Timișoara.

With an impressive collection of over 1,100 copies of bibles, which is constantly growing, Ionel Tuțac will offer visitors a captivating experience through unique exhibits, but also using modern 3D technology. The museum will present detailed information about the history, distribution and translation of the Bible, the languages in which it was written, translators and Bible societies.

“At the museum, I can say that we have completed the project, the renderings, we have sanitized there, we have demolished what needed to be demolished. Now we are working on the electrical and sanitary side. I have already received a few monitors, I have a promise that someone will help me with the screed. Someone promised to provide me with all the lighting fixtures. I very much wish that we can inaugurate it sometime around Easter”, Tuțac told us.

The museum space will also be used for cultural events, including Bible debates, concerts and mini-events, with a capacity limited to about 30-40 people.

Ionel Tuțac is the protagonist of a fascinating story, having in his collection a Bible manuscript from 1240-1250 and other extremely rare exhibits, such as the smallest Bible in the world.

Before the official opening of the Museum of the Bible, he organizes traveling exhibitions in different cities of the country, thus bringing the cultural value of these sacred texts to the attention of the public.

What a great handwritten bible

Another remarkable project started in Banat is the writing of the largest Bible in the world, the initiative also being set in motion by Ionel Tuțac. This impressive bible has 1245 pages, measuring 90cm long by 60cm wide, and when open it measures 120cm wide.

The creation process of this work of art and spirituality is a collective experience, involving the local community throughout the country. The giant Bible will be housed in the future Museum of the Bible.
