The Timiș County Council, through the Timiș County Culture and Art Center, kicks off the 17th edition of the “Lada cu Zestre” Festival-Competition and brings to the public’s attention a living and precious heritage from the entire territory of Timiș county.
Hundreds of participants: dancers, vocal soloists and instrumentalists, groups, folk groups and ensembles, tarafuri, craftsmen, folk art collectors, as well as reciters in the Banat language have thoroughly and respectfully prepared for Timișoara customs and traditions. Dozens of skilled housewives carefully prepared their recipes, carefully preserved in the yellowed notebook and passed down from generation to generation to enter the festival’s competition in the traditional gastronomy section. 60 localities from Timiș County entered the competition for the grand prize. Games from the plains of Banat, authentic games, the proud givanul, meticulously restored costumes, collections, ponevi, pretares, masaia, kilims, old photos, rump blanket, pita, ham, torta drum, krempita and Turkish are some elements of the generous offer with which we invite you to take part in the 7 centers of the festival.
The guests in the recital are Oana and Adrian Stanca, accompanied by the Banatul Professional Ensemble orchestra, conductor Sebastian Roșca. The old belt, Transylvanian belt, Boldea’s belt, Mita’s belt, the belt “at the little house in the clearing”, the Transylvanian wheel and games for two in the choreography of masters Brândușa and Nicolae Stănescu will be performed by the dancers of the Banatul Professional Ensemble. The Banatul Professional Ensemble show will be present at all 7 centers, starting at 3:45 p.m.
The competition is held according to the following schedule: Coșteiu – 04/06/2024, 1:00 p.m. – “Timiș dowry” category, Liebling – 04/07/2024, 1:00 p.m. – “Timiș dowry” category, Dudești Vechi – 04/13/2024, 1:00 p.m. 00 – Category “Timiș’s Endowment”, Dudeștii Noi – 14.04.2024, 13:00 – “Timiș’s Endowment” Category, Ghiroda – 04.20.2024, 13:00 – “Laureates” Category, Giarmata – 04.21.2024, 13 :00 – Category “Laureates”, Uivar – 27.04.2024, 12:00 – Category “Dowry of Timiș.”
Cash prizes will be awarded per locality depending on the total points accumulated, as follows: Grand prize – 4,500 lei; “Laureate” category – First Prize – 4,000 lei, Second Prize – 3,500 lei, Third Prize – 3,000 lei; “Timișului Dowry” category – First Prize – 3,000 lei, Second Prize – 2,500 lei, Third Prize – 2,000 lei.
Three special prizes in the amount of 1,000 lei each will be awarded to localities that have not obtained other cash prizes, and that correspond to the specific criteria of each prize, as follows: artistic independence by using only local resources, artistic performance, the most beautiful artistic moment, highlighting the specific Timișoara folklore.

The festival jury is made up of the following members: in the Choreography section: Nicolae Stănescu, Marius Ursu, Peri Vasile, Denis Chira in the Music section: Carmen Popovici – Dumbravă, Marius Cîrnu, Remus Vălungan, in the Dialect Poetry / Popular Theater section: Felicia Stoian, Adela Popa, in the Exhibitions / Collections section: Maria Hadiji, Alina Mafa and in the Gastronomy section: Mărioara Pisat, Nicolaie Tomescu.
The “Lada cu Zestre” Festival-Competition is financed by the Timiș County Council, and is organized by the Timiș County Culture and Art Center, coordinated by manager Prof. Liliana Laichici, in partnership with the town halls and local councils in Timiș County.
