“Following the measurements carried out by the certified operator, it was found that there are no differences in terms of land settlement compared to the previous measurements. The monitoring and measurements will continue”, the Prahova Prefecture officials announced on Saturday, regarding the situation on 23 August Street in the town of Slănic.
According to them, “the event is carefully monitored at the central level”, and operative teams of the IGSU, the Romanian Police and the Romanian Gendarmerie are present on the spot for the optimal management of the situation, benefiting from the support of the Prefect’s Institution – Prahova County and local public authorities.
Forty-two people who since Thursday were evacuated from their apartments in two blocks located near the affected area are still staying either with relatives or in local guesthouses, with which the local authorities have concluded a protocol.
On Friday, the Prefect of Prahova County, Emil Drăgănescu, declared that, for now, the cause that led to the collapse of the street is not known, stating that, on Monday, most likely, the specialists called to Slănic to check the area will be able to give an answer “opposite the dynamics of the terrain, not facing the causes of the collapse”.
