A 54-year-old man from Popești was detained by the police, because he allegedly chased and intentionally hit a resident’s dog with his car, wanting to kill it. As a result of the incident, the quadruped was injured in the head and lost sight in one of its eyes, according to a statement sent on Thursday by the Bihor Police.
“On March 27 this year, following the administration of the evidence, the police officers of the Animal Protection Bureau ordered the detention, for 24 hours, in the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center of the Bihor County Police Inspectorate against a 54-year-old man from Popești locality, Bihor county, investigated for committing the crime of intentionally injuring animals,” the information states.
Investigations revealed that the serious incident took place on December 29 last year in the middle of the day. The man, “while driving a car in his home town, would have chased a resident’s dog, also traveling in the opposite direction of traffic, and would have hit it with the vehicle, intentionally, with the aim of killing it”, it is also stated in the communicated.
On Thursday, the police officers of the Animal Protection Bureau will present the 54-year-old man to the Prosecutor’s Office next to the Marghita Court, in order to order legal measures.
The police officers of the Animal Protection Bureau of the Bihor County Police Inspectorate continue their investigations under the supervision of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Marghita Court, to document all possible criminal activity of the person in question.
Another hallucinatory case was made public by the Bihor Police on Wednesday, that of a man from Budoi detained for the intentional, unlawful killing of three dogs.
The latter is currently being investigated under judicial control.
