After co-financing with 100,000 euros the construction of a park in Băcioi commune, a component of the capital of the Republic of Moldova, Oradea and Bihorul will twin with Stăuceni, also a commune of Chisinau municipality, they announced, on Wednesday, in a conference of press, the mayor Florin Birta and the president of the County Council, Ilie Bolojan.
According to the latter, it is a form of “respect”, but also of support for the Romanian administration in Chisinau, while the mayor stated that based on such twinning “an investment will be made every year” and beyond de Prut with support from the municipal and county administrations of Oradea and Bihor.
The commune of Stăuceni has 8,694 inhabitants and an administration dominated by the representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party, of president Maia Sandu, pro-European and pro-Romanian, like the commune of Băcioi, by the way.
The county councilors approved in a meeting held on Wednesday the twinning with the commune belonging to Chisinau, and a similar project will be submitted to the local councilors’ vote on Thursday.
For Băcioi, Oradea City Hall and Bihor City Council approved in February 2022 the allocation of 100,000 euros each, money which, together with amounts from the Government of the Republic of Moldova, was used for the development of a park of almost 1.5 hectares. It was inaugurated exactly one year ago, the president of the Republic of Moldova also participated in the ceremony, and as guests, among others, Ilie Bolojan and Florin Birta.
The mayor of Băcioi commune, Ilie Leahu, also a PAS representative, was re-elected last fall with the highest score recorded in the local elections in the Republic of Moldova – over 92%.
