A 43-year-old man from the municipality of Rădăuţi is under criminal investigation for escape, after allegedly leaving house arrest shortly after being sentenced to four years in prison, the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) reported on Saturday ) Suceava, reports Agerpres.
According to the IPJ, the man was placed, on April 25, under house arrest, after being in preventive detention for six months for acts related to drug trafficking and consumption. In the course of Friday morning, the police officers carried out checks at his home, confirming compliance with the imposed measures.
Five hours later, the Suceava Court sentenced the man to four years in prison in another criminal case, and when they went to his home to pick him up, they couldn’t find him.
“In this context, the operative team was established for the execution of the mandate and the taking over of the convicted person from the state of house arrest for deposition in the penitentiary. When the team went to the home of the 43-year-old man, he was not found at home, and specific search and institutional information procedures were immediately started”, the IPJ officials stated, reports Agerpres.
In relation to Suceava, the measures of placing under general investigation were ordered, the information and reporting procedures being carried out at the border points.
“Police officers from the IPJ Suceava are carrying out search activities with a view to the execution of the prison sentence, the information input and cooperation channels being exploited, at the same time, in the case, a criminal file is also being drawn up in terms of committing the crime of escape”, the IPJ further states .
