2024 is the year in which the televisions got their hands on the goose with the golden eggs. Why? Politicians participate in campaigns for money (less so in the local ones, where it’s free), and the posts ask for thousands of euros. Many. Even those with insignificant audiences, as we will see below.

We have four rounds of elections, so also four rounds of campaigns that will bring money from politicians into the pockets of television and radio stations.

And because we are approaching the first electoral campaigns, those for the local elections and those for the European Parliament, dozens of television and radio stations from Bucharest and the country have announced to the CNA (as the law says) that they will host either electoral debates or electoral shows ( for money) and electoral spots (also for money).

The audiovisual legislation also obliges the televisions and radios to inform the institution about the rates they will charge parties and candidates in the coming elections.
