The Group of European Socialists (PES) will organize a three-day congress in Bucharest, starting on April 6, PSD MEP Victor Negrescu announced on Thursday during a press conference.
“On April 6, we will organize the PES meeting in Bucharest, of the European social democrats, and it is a gratifying thing for us,” announced the Romanian official.
“About a month or so ago, we already had the leadership of the social-democratic group in the European Parliament in Bucharest. Now we have a large-scale meeting. We are basically talking about the biggest event that European social democrats are organizing in this pre-campaign (for the European Parliament elections) in the center and east of Europe”, said Negrescu.
He also claimed that the choice of Romania’s capital for the next PES Congress shows that “Bucharest is attractive, important and relevant for European leaders”.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who responded to the Romanian Prime Minister’s invitation, will also participate in the congress, said the PSD MEP.
