A less common process in Cluj, it was necessary to declare as deceased a Cluj resident who disappeared during the Second World War, died in 1946 in a prison camp in the Soviet Union.

A person from Cluj opened a case at the Cluj-Napoca Court and requested, a few months ago, the judicial declaration of the death of a man who disappeared from his home in 1944. In fact, it was shown that the plaintiff’s father disappeared from his home in 1944, during the second world war. From that date the father gave no sign of life. Due to the fact that he did not have personal documents of the missing person, he submitted a request to the Hungarian Ministry of Defense and other Hungarian authorities. It was answered that the missing person was taken prisoner by the Soviet Union on October 13, 1944 and was sent to the Makayevka POW camp where he died on August 28, 1946.

Two days ago, the Cluj-Napoca Court admitted the request and ordered the judicial declaration of death, establishing August 27, 1946 as the date of death.
