moved from Viile Sibiului to the Airport, the project was withdrawn from the local Council

--

The draft decision that provides for the relocation of the voluntary waste collection center (CAV) from Viile Sibiului opposite the Airport was withdrawn from the agenda of today’s meeting of the local Council. It was withdrawn by the mayor without explanation, just as the decision to change its location was not explained either.

The project included on the agenda of the local Council today, March 27, is called “to update the technical-economic indicators related to the project “Establishment of a collection center through voluntary contribution in the Municipality of Sibiu”, within the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience”.

According to this project, the first CAV announced by Sibiu City Hall will no longer be built in Viile Sibiului, but in another location, opposite the Airport.

From the project we learn that as early as October 2023, i.e. a month earlier than signing the contract for the execution of the works for the center in Viile Sibiului, the municipality requested the Government’s approval to change the location: “In October 2023 it was sent to the Ministry of the Environment , Waters and Forests, the request for approval of the relocation of the location for the establishment of the Voluntary Contribution Center from the location: Sibiu, Viile Sibiului str., no. 7, in the location: Sibiu, Șos. Alba Iulia no. 110, in an area of 7508 square meters, request approved by the ministry on 01.02.2024”.

In the specialized report, the management of the City Hall mentions that the new location ensures “enhanced accessibility; maneuvering space for motor vehicles; location in an area without individual or collective housing in the vicinity, thus ensuring increased protection for people’s health; citizens benefit from several access roads and no access road infrastructure works are planned or imperatively necessary”.

At the beginning of today’s local forum meeting, Astrid Fodor only announced that she was withdrawing the project from the agenda because “it still requires some clarification”.

We remind you that, in November 2023, the City Hall awarded the execution contract for the construction of the CAV in Viile Sibiului, which was announced as the first location of this kind where the citizens of Sibiu will be able to take a series of waste for free, after a first tender was cancelled. The one that won the contract worth 2.37 million lei plus VAT is the Sibiu company RED CONS, which submitted the offer together with three subcontractors – AGC INSTALATEI SPECIALE, VEG PROIECT and SIMPA SIB. According to the documentation on SEAP, this was the only company that submitted a bid.

We specify that, since then, the municipality has not communicated its intention to change the location of the first CAV for the citizens of Sibiu, and to our requests to send us details regarding the construction of a CAV on the Alba Iulia road, which we learned from a memo submitted to the Sibiu Environmental Agency, I did not receive a response.
