Georgiana’s posts gather thousands and even hundreds of thousands of views each. The woman shows what still good things to use she finds in the dumpster. The reactions are both pro and con.

The Romanian shows her followers what she managed to make from the vegetables and fruits found PHOTO: collage

From clothes and household items left in the dumpster to vegetables and fruits that traders throw away at the end of the market day, Georgiana Sîrbu shows in her posts on Tik-Tok what she manages to recover and reuse.

“I passed by a market and they were just closing and look what I found: I found mushrooms, and last night I bought mushrooms, artichokes, broccoli, a bunch of strawberries, parsley – and you remember how I ran after offers – peppers, carrot, tomato, onion, other strawberries, zucchini, look how much parsley. I found red cabbage, a bunch, a bunch… Alas, I did my own thing. Tell me how to leave these too, that I took all this for nothing, only that we met when they were closing the fair?! See what I’m doing. I’m going to wash them now, make them beautiful. From the garbage, garbage from the fair. I also choose what is good, what is not good… I will keep you informed of what I manage to do with all these miracles”the woman tells her followers, in one of the posts.

Now everyone they will say that in Spain the Romanians eats from the garbage”, comments a Romanian.

“You did very well to take them! There is absolutely no shame!”, but someone else encourages her.

“I would have taken them too! If we took them from the stall, it was the same. I think there are many who would have taken them, but their pride won’t let them admit it. There is no shame! It’s like a prize”, is another message of encouragement.

“All with pesticides”, a disapproving message also comes. “Come on, you only find organic!”the answer from another commenter also appears.

“Dumpster Strawberries”

Other people say they have seen old people waiting for the end of the selling day to retrieve vegetables that would otherwise end up in the trash, so there is no shame, they encourage the woman.

In another video, Georgiana also shows what jam she prepares from the recovered strawberries. “Dumpling strawberries”, someone comments. “Everything you take out of the garbage is infected, I would never eat it”is another comment.

Instead, there are also comments in which people explain that these are special containers for perishable products that expire according to the expiration date set for marketing, but which can still be consumed. “You did not eat from the garbage, but saved fruit that can be eaten”comes the conclusion.

In other videos, the Romanian shows what clothes in good condition she finds, but also bags, shoes, carpets, various other objects and even household appliances, things that she recovers and resells at low prices.

“It’s not trash, it’s second hand for free!”the Romanians comment.

The woman, who usually responds to comments she sees on posts, also says in a video why she doesn’t “give alms” from the things she finds. Searching and sorting things takes gas, time, effort and patience, Georgiana explains to the Romanians who leave her messages.
