The former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, the leader of the Moldovan Development and Consolidation Party, Ion Chicu, participated today, on Victory Day, together with his colleagues, in the ceremony of laying flowers at the “Eternitate” Memorial Complex in Chisinau, as well as at many other monuments in the localities of the country, erected in honor of the fallen heroes on the battlefields of the Second World War.
He noted that the bloodiest war in human history ended 79 years ago. At the cost of tens of millions of human lives, the inhuman regime that killed people just because they were different: of a different nationality, religion or political orientation was defeated.
“Dear veterans, we congratulate you with deep gratitude on the occasion of Victory Day! We thank you and we bow before you for bringing peace to the world and giving us the opportunity to live in freedom and dignity”, emphasized Ion Chicu.
He pointed out that today is also Europe Day.
“By tradition, as in previous years, we honor the flag of the European Union in Europe Square in the center of Chisinau. Happy birthday, free, democratic Europe, without double standards!” said Ion Chicu.
