According to IPJ Galați, on Saturday night, the policemen from Section 3 of the Liești Rural Police, issued a regulatory stop signal, for control, to the driver of a car traveling on Alexandru Ioan Cuza Street. “Since, following the verification and in the E-DAC application, it turned out that a Schengen alert was issued against the person by the Dutch authorities, he was taken over by the policemen from the Criminal Investigation Service – Investigation Bureau, to clarify the situation “, IPJ Galati transmits. The police established that a detection and detention alert was issued against the man, from 2019, for committing a crime of fraud in his native state, in 2016, and he still had to serve a remaining 190 days of arrest in connection with this crime.

The man was presented to a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Galati Court of Appeal, who ordered his detention for 24 hours, after which he would be presented to the Galati Court of Appeal, for a preventive measure and subject to extradition procedures .

“The E-DAC application, recently implemented in Romania, is a vital tool in the fight against cross-border crime and serious crimes, facilitating the rapid and efficient exchange of information between the competent authorities in the country and in the Schengen area. The use of this application has already demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying and detaining suspects, contributing to ensuring the safety and security of citizens”, claims IPJ Galati.
