Romania’s women’s sculls team, made up of Mădălina Bereş, Maria Lehaci, Magdalena Rusu and Amalia Bereş, won the silver medals on Saturday at the European Rowing Championships in Szeged (Hungary). according to agerpres.ro.

Romania qualified in the finals for medals 12 of the 13 boats with which it participates in the European, and on Saturday four other crews will perform in Final A, four women’s rowing (3:25 p.m.), four men’s rowing (3:40 p.m.), double rowing female, light category (15:55) and male 8+1 (16:26).

“With less than 100 days before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, it gives me great pleasure to be your host here at the French Residence to talk about the preparations we are making before the big event, and specifically two aspects very important.

The first refers to the first great public celebration related to the Games, namely the arrival of the Olympic flame in Marseille. According to tradition, the Olympic flame was lit with the help of the sun’s rays, during a ceremony in the sanctuary of Olympia, in Greece, where the ancient Olympic Games were held. This ceremony took place on April 16. Then the flame arrived in Athens to board the Belem, a three-masted vessel, and will cross the Mediterranean to Marseille, where it will arrive on May 8.

On May 9, Europe Day, the Olympic flame will cross Marseille, in a great popular celebration, carried by athletes from the 27 countries of the European Union who will participate in a special relay of the Olympic torch.
