JT Grup Oil SA invests 25 million euros in the development of the newest private terminal for liquid petroleum products on the Black Sea

Currently, Romania has only one oil product terminal on the Black Sea built in 1960, which belongs to the Romanian state and which does not cover the market’s needs regarding fuel storage and distribution capacity. In this context, JT Grup Oil SA, one of the most important companies on the fuel distribution market, announces the development of the first private, modern and fully automated terminal for liquid petroleum products on the Black Sea: JT Terminal.

Enjoying an investment of 25 million euros, this represents a strategic project of major importance for Romania that will cover approximately half of the diesel deficit in the domestic market, which is currently two million tons per year.

The reference project of JT Grup Oil SA is JT Terminal, the first private terminal for liquid petroleum products built in Romania in the last 50 years, which will operate specific products such as diesel, biodiesel and bitumen with the ultimate goal of distributing them on the domestic market and external fuel. Recently, JT Grup Oil SA announced the completion of the first stage of development of the JT Terminal project, again with the completion of the infrastructure works, the financing contract obtained from non-reimbursable European funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program was also closed (POIM), through which the company benefited from 11 million euros.

The total investment of JT Terminal is 25 million euros and it is ait relies on three sources – own capital, investment credit granted by UniCredit Bank Romania and financing through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program, JT Grup Oil SA being the first and only Romanian private company to receive non-refundable European funds through AA POIM.

By developing its own terminal, JT Grup Oil SA aims to increase the volume for partners, who currently have unmet demand, and develop the portfolio of new customers. Furthermore, increasing the amount of fuels SHARE will also generate a multiplication of turnover from 300 million RON to approximately 3 billion RONagain owning your own terminal will generate an increase in profit of up to 80 million RON in the following years.

“JT Terminal is a multi-modal terminal, which allows the simultaneous loading and unloading of ships, wagons and tanks. It has an hourly handling capacity of 700 and a maximum of 1,000 tons for ships, a minimum of 300 and a maximum of 700 tons for trains and a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 80 tons for tankers. After the project will be 100% operational, our vision is to increase the amount of fuels imported to the Romanian market, as well as their storage and distribution capacity by developing logistics channels that allow the placing on the market of larger volumes of fuels that to cover the deficit for which there is already demand. The project will have 8 tanks with a total storage capacity of 31,500 tons and will handle barges with a capacity of 3,000 to 9,000 tons, 16 wagons at the same time on two parallel railway lines, and 20 tanks at a time in loading and unloading area. Thanks to the facilities available at the terminal, JT Grup Oil SA has excellent business development prospects through strategic partnerships with the most important companies in the industry at European level, which have already expressed their intentions in this direction.

Currently, all the energy that JT Grup Oil SA consumes in its daily activity is produced by a 250 kw photovoltaic plant. Through this investment the company fully covers its energy consumption for the office space, service and logistics base, demonstrating a firm commitment to a sustainable future.

Steady growth, consolidated success

Founded in 2001, JT Grup Oil SA is a financially balanced company that survived economic, financial and medical crises and that, regardless of the circumstances, found solutions and managed to adapt to changes, becoming today one of the most important distributors of fuels in the region. With a vast experience of over 20 years, the company stands out in the market both through its innovative vision and through ambitious projects, which are based on a well-defined strategy oriented towards the development of new business lines, in parallel with a consolidation of the existing ones.

The company has its own fleet of 11 tankers with a capacity of up to 40,000 liters, equipped with pumps and indicators to measure the quantity delivered, with the help of which it carries out fuel distribution operations in the South-Eastern area of ​​Romania. In the period 2004-2005, JT Grup Oil SA built a bitumen terminal in Medgidia, which it sold shortly after receipt, and the money obtained from the transaction was invested in the development of the fuel distribution network. In 2008, the company began to develop the distribution network and introduced to the market more than 250 tanks equipped with pumps and level indicators. From 2023, JT Grup Oil SA diversified its product range and entered the duty-free diesel segment, which serves commercial vessels for the ports of Midia and Constanța.
