Chiajna commune, also from Ilfov county, is among the top settlements that have registered an upward trend in population. Despite the fact that many avoid this area because of the traffic, the commune boasts over 43,000 inhabitants.
Ilfov county is like a magnet for young people eager for work
In Ilfov county, there is one of the youngest populations in Romania. Here, the average age is 38.6 years. However, this is not the only aspect that represents a big plus for Ilfov County.
According to the most recent census, Ilfov has the lowest unemployment rate. Here, more than half of the inhabitants, over 52%, are active in the labor field. Precisely for this reason, more and more people choose to migrate to Ilfov county and its surroundings.

At the opposite pole, we are dealing with the smallest commune in Romania. It is about Bătrâna commune, in Hunedoara county. According to INS data, 88 people live here. Before 2011, 127 people lived here, and at that time, the smallest commune in Romania was Brebu Nou from Caraș – Severin.
