There is also good news for the Romanians. Consumers could pay lower bills from April 1.

The government is preparing to lower the ceilings at which suppliers buy energy and gas, and the effects would be felt from May or June.

This ordinance is being debated and it is to be adopted in the Government meeting, which will most likely be convened tomorrow.

It is an ordinance that changes the ceilings for the purchase of gas and electricity, but only for suppliers.

Thus, the ceilings for them decrease, therefore, the state compensates less, but we will not automatically see a decrease in the bills paid by Romanians.

And that’s because the ceilings that ordinary Romanians pay remain the same, namely 0.60 lei for a monthly consumption of less than 100 kw/h and 0.80 lei for a consumption that reaches up to 255 kw/h.

The price of gas also remains unchanged: Romanians will pay 0.30 lei.

The Minister of Energy says that we expect lower bills from June

However, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, said that we expect that in the coming months, most likely June, we will see a decrease in bills, because the suppliers will buy cheaper gas and energy.

But, in the summer months, consumption drops anyway.

Those from the Government said that they did not take this measure earlier, because the market was not stable.

There is this ordinance that will most likely be adopted tomorrow, it will modify the compensation and capping scheme, and the authorities give assurances that Romanians will benefit from these capped prices until next year.
