Surprising? Or not so much? Valentin Florea, the AUR candidate for the District 6 City Hall, triggered a political storm with his resignation from the party. The reasons presented are, however, downright explosive, characterizing the AUR as an “illusion” and its leader, George Simion, as “garbage”.

Florea did not shy away from throwing harsh words, describing the way the party is run as a pitiful show, where “garbage gets into the lists”. His accusations did not stop there, going so far as to claim that the AUR would support violence against women, pointing out that he does not want to be associated with such a thing.

But the waves of political anger did not stop there. The former leader of the organization in Sector 6 went even further, stating that George Simion has no chance of winning the presidential elections and that the party should be led by someone other than him, proposing Claudiu Târziu for this position. We remain, however, of the opinion that it is better later than Claudiu Târziu.

It seems that the candidate became angry for several reasons, and this anger culminated in his decision to resign from the party. Here are some possible reasons for his anger:

  1. George Simion’s imposition of some people considered trailblazers from PSD and PNL on the candidate lists. This could have sparked Florea’s displeasure, considering that the party is compromising its values and principles by so-called collaboration with the trasists.
  2. Endorsement of alleged violence against women by the party. If Florea perceived that the AUR had a soft attitude or even supported violence against women, this could have been a red line for him, causing him to withdraw his support.
  3. Lack of organization and structure in the party. Florea suggested that decisions are made without proper consultation and that there is no clear hierarchy within the AUR. This may have led to his frustration with the party management and his lack of confidence in the leadership.
  4. Distrust in the leader of the party, George Simion. Florea’s statements suggest that he does not trust Simion’s leadership skills and does not see him as someone capable of leading the party to electoral success or winning the presidential election.

All these reasons could have fueled Florea’s anger and disappointment, leading to his resignation from the AUR and the incendiary accusations against the party and its leader.

This resignation cannot be ignored, because it brings into question the entire future of the AUR and politics in Romania. It is a strong signal that not everything is rosy in this party, and internal divisions are becoming more evident and disturbing. What will come next for AUR and how will its leaders react to these devastating accusations? It remains to be seen in the coming weeks.
