A gold watch worn by John Jacob Astor IV, member of the wealthy Astor family and the richest man on board the Titanic, is being put up for sale on Saturday at an auction of memorabilia from the ship, according to CNN.

Astor was one of approximately 1,500 people who died when the Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg. His pregnant wife, Madeleine, survived.

The watch is among a number of notable items offered at the Henry Aldridge & Son auction house in Wiltshire, England, including the suitcase that held the violin the conductor played when the ship sank, and a pocket book documenting the voyages Titanic’s schedules.

The violin was sold for 1.7 million dollars through the same auction house in 2013 and is the most expensive object from the ship ever sold.

The watch is expected to fetch between £100,000 and £150,000, and the suitcase between £100,000 and £120,000, according to Andrew Aldridge, director of Henry Aldridge auction house. The auction starts on Saturday, April 27, at noon.

The watch was among the personal effects found on Astor’s body after the sinking of the Titanic, including gold cufflinks, a diamond ring, money and a pocket book, according to the auction house.

After the recovery of Astor’s body, the goods were sent to his son, Vincent Astor, who completely restored the clock to make it work. In 1935, Vincent gave the watch as a christening gift to the son of William Dobbyn IV, John Jacob Astor’s executive secretary, according to the auction house.

The Dobbyn family kept the watch until the late 1990s, when it was put up for auction.

An anonymous collector from the United States bought the watch at this auction and is the current seller. Since then, it has been exhibited in several museums.

“So, you know, over time, millions of people have seen it, which is fabulous,” Aldridge said.

John Jacob Astor IV’s cufflinks and the first class accommodation plan on the Titanic are also offered at the Saturday auction. The cufflinks are expected to sell for between £5,000 and £8,000, and the accommodation plan for between £20,000 and £30,000.
