Bucharest City Hall, through its subordinate cultural institutions, marks March 27 – World Theater Day through a series of events:

The theater “Lucia Sturdza Bulandra” prepared on Wednesday, from 18.00, at the Liviu Ciulei hall the event “Meeting in two acts” – in partnership with UNATC ILCaragiale; it is about two event meetings between the young generation of actors and two prominent personalities of the Romanian scene: Emilia Popescu and Oana Pellea. Event with free entry, also broadcast on the theater’s official Facebook page, in the LIVEstream system.

Comedy Theater – starting at 19.00 there is a special performance of the show “Marriage” by NV Gogol, directed by Andrei and Andreea Grosu, scheduled as part of the National Campaign run by UNITER, “Artists for artists”.

Thus, the Comedy Theater joins the UNITER charity initiative, carried out for 20 years together with cultural institutions in Romania. Proceeds from the sale of tickets are directed to the Theater Solidarity Fund, which helps theater people facing complicated medical problems.

At the same time, in the online environment, the Comedy Theater will run the “Congratulate us, you, on World Theater Day!” Campaign, a social media campaign, through which viewers are invited to express their reasons for congratulating the Theater’s activity.

CI Nottara Theater organizes on March 27, from 2:30 p.m., a guided tour with free entry in the “Origins/Landmarks – a journey through the history of Nottara Theater” exhibition.

Also, on Wednesday, from 7:30 p.m., at the “George Constantin” hall, the play “Ivona – Princess of Burgundy” by Witold Gombrowicz takes place

At Teatrul Mic – March 27, 7:00 p.m., Sala ATELIER – the performance “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, directed by Liliana Pană, takes place

“Ion Creangă” Theater – 27.03- 10:00, Great Hall of the Theater – The show “Punguța cu doi bani” and later a documentary made by TVR Cultural, in memory of Cornel Todea, will be broadcast.

Excelsior Theater – 27.03.2024, 19:00, Sala Ion Lucian – Performance ”(R) evolutions – Guide to survival in the 21st century”, by Yael Ronen and Dimitrij Schaad, directed by Radu Nica. The show proposes an unprecedented journey into the future and investigates the problems that humanity could face in just a few decades, in a world ruled by artificial intelligence.

The Center for Cultural Projects of the Municipality of Bucharest – ARCUB – 27.03.2024, 19:00, Great Hall of Gabroveni Inn – Urban Gypsy & Emil Bîzgă concert, as part of the ARCUB Jazz Live Season. Before the start of the concert, Jon Fosse’s message, received from UNITER, will be quoted.

“Constantin Tănase” Magazine Theater – 30.03.2024, 7:00 p.m. – “Some sensations…” performance by Georges Feydeau. A savory comedy from the Belle Epoque period, based on the play “The pony’s mother passed away” (original title, “Feu la mère de Madame”) by the famous French playwright Georges Feydeau (1862 – 1921). The translation and adaptation of this text belongs to Georges Doroșenco.

On 30.03.2024, at 19:00 – before the start of the show “My dear, Eva”, the newest premiere of the “Constantin Tănase” Magazine Theatre, the actress Oana Ghioca will read the official message addressed on the occasion of the 2024 edition of World Theater Day by Jon Fosse, Norwegian writer and playwright, Laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2023. His reflections and ideas on Theatre, Performing Arts and Culture of Peace in an increasingly insecure world are brought together in the message entitled ” Art is peace!”.

The Romanian Playwrights Theater will present the performances on World Theater Day: Iona by Marin Sorescu, stage coordination Victor Ioan Frunză
(17:00, TNB – Sala Atelier – performance as part of the Artists for Artists Campaign) and Wedding in Heaven by Mircea Eliade, directed by Zsuzsánna Kovács at 19:00, TDR – “Iosif Naghiu” Hall.

Comic Opera for Children – Wednesday, 19.00 – “Extraordinary ballet gala”. The guests of the Gala are principal soloists of the renowned ballet companies in Romania, among which are the Hungarian Opera and the Romanian Opera from Cluj-Napoca, the Romanian Opera from Craiova, the Opera from Brașov, the National Opera from Bucharest, the National Theater of Opera and Ballet.
