The mayor of Sântandrei, Ioan Mărcuş, launched his candidacy for the ninth term at the head of the municipality in a meeting that took place on Friday in the locality’s gym and was attended by over 250 locals.

Mayor with eight mandates

The liberal, who is one of the longest-serving mayors in Bihor, is in his eighth term. “I’ve been mayor since the 90s. Now I’m running for the ninth,” said the alderman for THE BIHOREAN.

Among many others, the leader of the PNL Bihor and also the president of the Bihor County Council, Ilie Bolojan, the director of the Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments, Cristian Buzlea, and the candidates with whom the liberal formation wants to take over a new leadership mandate from the autumn took part in the meeting on Friday, among many others. the commune.

“It’s about continuity. The started projects must continue”, said Mărcuș to those present on the microphone.

On the wall behind him could be seen a large banner with his portrait and PNL leader Ilie Bolojan in the mirror with the message “Sântandrei, on the right path”, as well as medallions with Sântandrei PNL candidates.

They want an extra mandate

Ioan Mărcuş bases his new candidacy on the investments made in the commune in the last term, estimated at more than 8 million euros, which aim from the modernization of streets to the construction of a kindergarten.

The mayor also referred to other new projects, worth about 13.5 million euros, which are in various stages of implementation, from the construction of a nursing home to the construction of a new school.

“To achieve the proposed objectives, I need a team by my side”, Mărcuş asked the locals.

For the June elections, the mayor of Sântandrei wants to surpass the performance achieved in 2020.

“Now we have 10 of the 15 mandates in the City Council. For the upcoming elections, we want at least one more”, the mayor declared for Bihor.

Liberals for Sântandrei

During the meeting, Mărcuş presented the list of PNL candidates, which he opened with PNL vice-mayor Sebastian Horia Şuteu.

Thus, the liberal candidates are: Călin Demeter (construction engineer), Marinela Moş (family doctor), Călin Gărdăreanu (administrator), Ioana Ardeleanu (family doctor) and Călin Indrieş (administrator).

The PNL list also contains names such as: Cristian Ştef (chancellory secretary in the Bihor Prefect’s Institution), Iosif Osvald (economist), Georgeta Mihalca (sales advisor), Violeta Paskalo (manager), Corina Paina (hairdresser), Cornelia Baciu (inspector), Ovidiu Cseh (engineer), Ioan Pop (pump automation operator), Alexandru Foica (economist) and Gheorghe Hule (sales agent).

“Bolojan and Mărcuș will win anyway…”

In his speech, Bolojan reviewed the investments made or in preparation that will accelerate the development of the commune, such as the Oradea – Arad expressway or the future tram-train project that will connect Sântandreiul with Băile Felix via Oradea, among others .

“Those of you who voted for us in 2020 and saw that we did what we promised, please give us your trust because we have prepared new things. If someone new comes, he needs a year or two to understand what it is about and it wastes time”, explained Bolojan.

The liberal asked the locals to vote not only for the mayor of Sântandrei, but also for his list for the City Council.

“It is not enough that Mărcuș or Bolojan are elected, because they will win anyway, they need a stable majority. If you do not have a serious majority to rely on, you will have to rely on some and others from the opposition, and to be blocked”, explained PNL leader Bihor.

Thus, Ilie Bolojan asked the locals to vote for the PNL both on the lists for the Town Hall in the commune and for the Local Council. “Those of you who trust me, please trust our team from Sântandrei”, asked Bolojan.

In the June 9 election, held in a single round, Romanian voters will be called to vote for their mayors, presidents of county councils, as well as members of local and county councils.

On the same day, Romania’s representatives in the European Parliament will be elected.
