Astra Film Festival and the International Meeting of the Saxons from Sibiu, come under the High Patronage of President Klaus Iohannis

President Klaus Iohannis has granted High Patronage for three events that will take place this year, among which are the international meeting of the Saxons, ProEtnica 2024 – Sighișoara Intercultural Festival and the Astra Film Festival Anthropological Film Festival, informed the Presidential Administration, announced News .

Thus, the head of state granted High Patronage to the following events:

• The International Meeting of the Saxons, which will take place between August 2-4 in Sibiu. Under the motto “Heimat ohne Grenzen / Homeland without borders”, the event is organized by the Democratic Forum of the Saxons of Transylvania, together with the CA Evangelical Church in Romania and the associations of Transylvanian Saxons from Germany, Austria, Canada and the USA, being dedicated to knowledge and promotion the cultural heritage of the German minority in Romania.
• The Anthropological Film Festival Astra Film Festival, the 31st edition, and Astra Film Junior, which will take place between October 20-27 in Sibiu, being organized by the Astra Film Foundation. As traditional manifestations of documentary and anthropological film professionals, Astra Film Festival and Astra Film Junior aim to educate the public in the context of the complex realities of contemporary society.
• ProEtnica 2024 – The Sighişoara Intercultural Festival, the 20th edition, which will take place between August 28 and September 1 in the medieval fortress of Sighişoara, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The ProEtnica Intercultural Festival, which has become a beautiful tradition of the meeting between ethnicities and cultures in Romania, is organized by the Sighişoara Interethnic Youth Educational Center with the support of the Department for Interethnic Relations and the Ministry of Culture. The event offers national minorities in Romania a suitable framework for the presentation and cultivation of their cultural identities, in the European spirit of unity in diversity.
