Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced that it will launch a new feature expected by many of the app’s users.
WhatsApp will implement the transcription of voice messages. The option will be useful for times when you cannot hear the voice messages, such as in a noisy environment.
The new feature will also enable hearing impaired people to be able to read voice messages instead of listening to them.
To be able to use it, the function must be activated in the settings, and the transcription will be available with a single tap.
Transcription takes place locally on the device, without the need to go through the cloud, but only after downloading a 150MB speech-to-text package.
The new feature is currently available in beta version 2.24.7.8 of WhatsApp for Android.
After a testing period, the feature will be available to Android and iPhone users, as well as PC and web users.
