The members of the Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR) discovered in Buzău 85 different species of birds in the block areas and without considering the Crâng Forest. Some of these are very good predators, including at night.
“Last year it was reported to me that two cubs were observed at a twelve-story building where there is a large pile of gravel”said the representative of SOR Buzău, Gabriel Benescu.
The redshank, the cuckoo, the grebe in summer, the cuckoo, wild ducks, birds less common in the urban environment are among the birds of prey. But beyond these, laughing gulls are now predominant in the city.

Gabriel Benescu says that laughing gulls are a novelty, because a decade ago there were none in Buzau. Woodpeckers, on the other hand, birds of the owl family, raise questions.
After in the winter of 2016-2017, in the pines of the Silvic Bypass area, the ornithologists counted 134 woodpeckers, and this time only six specimens were counted. What is the cause? The pines began to dry and the birds made their nests elsewhere.
“This winter I counted only six specimens. They disappeared because the pine trees were affected and started to dry out, and these birds usually establish their nest in tall conifers.” said the representative of SOR Buzău, Gabriel Benescu, Adevărul reports.
