A Romanian woman studying in Japan shows in a video on TikTok what she bought at a supermarket with 50 euros. At the end, the young woman makes a comparison between the prices in Romanian and Japanese stores.

“Let’s start with the food. I got a box of six eggs, a box of almond milk, a jar of blueberry jam, a can of corn, an iceberg lettuce, a bottle of balsamic vinegar, a table salt, a packet of mozzarella cheese, a yogurt, a cherry tomato casserole, a cream cheese, a handful of green onions, an avocado, a box of sugar-free tea, a bag of frozen blueberries, a box of mini ice creams and a bag of flakes oat.”
The Romanian woman also included care and cleaning products on her list
“Then we move on to care and cleaning products: I took two bags of shower gel, a toothpaste, eight rolls of toilet paper, four rolls of kitchen paper, a set of cleaning products, which contains a spray of stove, one for furniture, one for windows, napkins for the electric stove and dish detergent and the whole set was about 6 euros.”
At the end, the young woman confessed that she seems to have bought more products than she would have bought in Romania with 50 euros, that is 250 lei.
Many Romanians were amazed in the comments by how affordable the prices are in Japan, compared to those in Romania: “In Romania you paid 500 lei plus an allowance.”
