The Oradea Citadel Court became a playground for hundreds of children who participated on Friday in the activities organized by the Romanian Police Day. The law enforcement officers awaited them with games, exhibitions of equipment and weapons, but also with demonstrations in which the police dogs were the protagonists.

Four-legged stars

The event started on Friday at 10 o’clock, when the courtyard from the entrance next to the Orthodox Cathedral of the Citadel was filled with students and preschoolers who arrived in groups.

The children received police ID cards for a day, they were able to see the equipment available to the policemen in their missions, they took pictures with “masked” people, riding a motorcycle or in the special vehicles of the road agents.

Many of them also stopped at the stand of the Animal Protection Bureau of the Police Inspectorate of Bihor County, where they learned how they help four-legged animals in need.

Some stopped to pet Roxi (photo)a female about 7 years old who was rescued a few days ago by the police after being injured by people in the dorsal area.

The children’s favorite was the demonstration of the police dog Rocky, from the Forensic Service, who put down a thief who stole a woman’s bag, and then forced him to surrender.

“Rocky, Rocky, bravo, Rocky!” hundreds of children shouted in chorus.

Prichindei had the opportunity to see how the police created the robot portrait of the criminal, but also to follow another quadruped, the female Izzy, from the Special Action Service, while she was looking for a ball hidden by a little girl in the audience in a crate .

Bogdanel in action

Among the youngest visitors was Bogdănel, the 6-year-old boy who often accompanies the prevention policemen from Oradea to actions dressed in a uniform similar to theirs.

Other children were allowed to put their hands on the weapons, put on their bulletproof vests and helmets.

“I liked it here a lot, especially the dogs. I appreciate them, but still I don’t want to become a policeman, I want to work like my father does, in construction,” he confessed BIHOREAN Denis, a 2nd grade student from the American-Romanian School in Oradea.

In Bihor, Police Day was also celebrated in the city of Alesd.

Friday’s events marked Romanian Police Day, considering the fact that on March 25, 202 years have passed since the institution’s documentary attestation.

The date was designated by Law 218/2002, which regulates the activity of the institution and is linked to the Christian symbol of the Good News found on the first flag of the Great Agia, a symbol that was also taken over on the current flag of the Romanian Police.
