The free sterilization of dogs with owners in Alba Iulia will continue in 2024. The conditions and budget of the program are subject to approval in the March City Council meeting.

It is about the program for subsidizing the sterilization of dogs with owners, animals belonging to the common breed and their mixed breeds.

Dog sterilization operations will be carried out in veterinary offices authorized by the Alba College of Veterinarians.

Alba Iulia City Hall will conclude with the veterinary offices, for this service.

The estimated costs of such a sterilization intervention include the registration of the event in the dog’s health book and in the Record Register of Dogs with Owners.

For the year 2024, it is proposed to allocate 80,000 lei from the general budget of the Municipality of Alba Iulia, for the dog sterilization program.

Any natural or legal person, with domicile/headquarters within the municipality

• who owns one or more dogs of common breed or mixed breeds, registered

can benefit from subsidizing sterilization.

Animals must be registered in RECS

Granting of the subsidy is done in the order in which applications are submitted. Along with the application, the applicant also submits a copy of the identity document.

Upon submission of the application, the City Hall issues an order/sterilization voucher. It will be completed, signed and initialed by the veterinarian. A copy will be given to the owner.

Veterinarians who have concluded contracts with the municipality will invoice monthly the value of the sterilizations performed in the previous month.

The town hall is not responsible for the postoperative evolution of sterilized dogs. Any additional medical consultations will be the owner’s responsibility.
