Every year, the University of Suceava aims to make foreign students feel welcome and facilitate their integration into the Suceava and academic community. Thus, on Monday, March 18, the representatives of “Ștefan cel Mare” University from Suceava welcomed the foreign students who will study this semester at USV, within the Erasmus+ program.
Erasmus+ Welcome Day is a meeting organized to give foreign students the opportunity to get to know each other better and create connections, as well as to learn useful information about the university and the host city: study programs, campus infrastructure, organizations students, leisure opportunities and more. At the same time, on this occasion, future activities aimed at facilitating their integration into the Suceava university space were established, among which practical applications, volunteering activities and socializing evenings will be found, by preparing dishes specific to the countries where they come from. At this meeting, the Erasmus+ students also met their Romanian colleagues, members of the international Erasmus Student Network (ESN), who will assist them during the integration process.
In an interactive setting, moderated by the university professor. Dr. Carmen Chașovschi, coordinator of USV’s International Relations and European Affairs Service, the expectations and fears of foreign students regarding their stay on the USV campus and in Suceava were discussed. The students also presented cultural aspects specific to the countries and regions they come from. The event was organized by the International Relations and European Affairs Service of the USV, a department which, together with the Erasmus+ coordinators at the faculty level and the Vice-Rector with the image of the university, international relations and European development, prof. dr. Ștefan Purici, offers support and guidance to foreign students during their stay in Suceava.
This semester, students from Portugal, Ukraine, Turkey, Montenegro, Spain, Greece and Poland will study in Suceava. The significant number of foreign students studying at USV is due to the international opening of USV, the implementation of the internationalization strategy and the constant involvement of teaching staff in signing new university collaboration agreements and partnerships with higher education institutions outside Romania and, not least , the fact that USV is a member of important European university consortia.
